Leibniz Institute DSMZ Studies microbial diversity and biological functions, maintains reference biological materials and provides enzyme information through BRENDA. BRENDA links enzyme names, reactions, organisms, kinetic measurements and references. BRENDA is part of DSMZ. Values from different experiments need their source conditions; the database does not certify a commercial enzyme preparation. Geography: Braunschweig, Germany; international research users.
SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, ENZYME Publishes the ENZYME nomenclature database through Expasy, based mainly on IUBMB recommendations. Users can search by EC number, name, compound or comment. Some entries are preliminary and use an n in the serial part of the number. This is a reference service, not a separate authority that approves enzyme use. Geography: Switzerland; international online resource.
EMBL-EBI Publishes biological data and enzyme research tools. The checked Mechanism and Catalytic Site Atlas distinguishes entries with a detailed reaction mechanism from entries that identify catalytic residues only. The old Enzyme Portal has been retired, as its official training page states. Do not direct readers to that portal as a current service or treat related protein sequences as new measured mechanisms.
